Tonight, we had over some friends to grill out. Yet we didn't grill in our backyard. We chose our driveway.
Jon, Morgan, Travis, Laney, Anthony, Katie, Grace (Alyssa was sleeping) along with yours truly ate hot dogs, chips, cookies, all in our driveway.
Quite honestly, it was a surreal experience to be outside in our driveway. Nobody comes outside in our neighborhood...it's quite sad.
We did it with two intentions.
1. Get to know our new friends in our new vision series group better.
2. Get to know our neighbors better.
It's amazing what stepping out into your driveway (and staying there) can do.
Our Vietnamese neighbor to the right, came over. They actually brought us some Vietnamese food they had cooked earlier that evening. Tofu...I'd never had tofu, but they cooked it up like it was the best darn chicken I'd ever had. It does taste like chicken...yes.
And we invited our neighbor Adam over too...It was great. We prayed specifically for our neighbors to interact with us. God answered our prayers.
For the city,
Matt
